The Body’s mission is to use the Web to lower barriers between patients and clinicians, to demystify HIV/AIDS and its treatment, to improve patients’ quality of life, and to foster community through human connection. It provides information on AIDS basics, prevention, testing, diagnosis and treatment; promotes conferences; addresses quality of life issues; and hosts bulletin boards for people to connect with each other and with resources.
The National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP) is responsible for public health surveillance, prevention research, and programs to prevent and control HIV infection and AIDS, other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), viral hepatitis, and tuberculosis (TB). Center staff work in collaboration with governmental and nongovernmental partners at community, State, national, and international levels, applying well-integrated multidisciplinary programs of research, surveillance, technical assistance, and evaluation.

BRUNAP is a nationally known center for training researchers and clinicians in AIDS-related disciplines.
