Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) is a not-for-profit, volunteer-supported and community-based organization committed to national leadership in the fight against AIDS. Our mission is to reduce the spread of HIV disease, help people with HIV maintain and improve their health and independence, and keep the prevention, treatment and cure of HIV an urgent national and local priority. In fulfilling this mission, we will remain true to our heritage by fighting homophobia and affirming the individual dignity of all gay men and lesbians.

Dedicated to providing an array of information services, educational materials, advocacy training and technical assistance of the highest quality, they pledge compassionate support and passionate advocacy on behalf of transsexual and transgendered persons in their journeys toward health of body and mind and in their pursuit of personal freedom, including the freedom to alter their bodies and change their gender roles.
The goal of the GLMA is to increase the visibility of specific health concerns of LGBT patients and offer programs and services that advocate for the LGBT community. GLMA publishes a quarterly journal, provides trainings for medical providers, health professionals and students, has an online health care referral program, and coordinates the Lesbian Health Fund.
To create a partnership between the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, community-based health and human services agencies, and the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) communities and their straight allies to develop an awareness of health issues; reduce barriers to health care and prevention services; and promote, enhance, and sustain health norms for GLBT people throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
