Advocates For Youth is a Washington, DC based organization focused on enabling American and international youth to make “informed and responsible” decisions about their health and sexual behavior. AFY is one of the 3 preeminent sexual health education authorities IMHO. They maintain a large collection of resources for parents, educators and trainers, including curriculum and materials targeting specific populations such as LGBT, living HIV+  and minority youth (also, here).  AFY conducts workshops for youths and trainings for educators by request.  They are also at the forefront monitoring domestic and international policy and are a hub of grassroot and activist activity.  AFY also organizes young activists via the Youth Activist Network and the Amplify Your Voice campaign. In recent years, they launched the Great American Condom Campaign, which distributes condoms to college campuses that have been nominated as a SafeSite.  AFY maintains an active and buzzing blogosphere of young activists, staffers and educators.

Planned Parenthood is another of the 3 most publicly accessible and progressive sexual health education and advocacy organizations in the US.  PP offers a combination of medical and educational services, making it unparalleled in this regard.  Perhaps most widely associated with its national fight to preserve a woman’s right to choose, Planned Parenthood also engages in local and grassroots activist and education.

Gender.org is committed to the civil rights, health and well-being of all members of our diverse community.  Dedicated to providing an array of information services, educational materials, advocacy training and technical assistance of the highest quality, they pledge compassionate support and passionate advocacy on behalf of transsexual and transgendered persons in their journeys toward health of body and mind and in their pursuit of personal freedom, including the freedom to alter their bodies and change their gender roles.
